
Healthcare Innovation Panel Brings Together Youth and Experts in NYC
The Future of Healthcare: Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Next-Generation Medicine Discussed This Weekend at NYC Turkish House by Youth Initiative EML with Turk Ocagi, Ahbap America, and Ataturk’s Heritage Foundation. Youth-Led Healthcare AI Panel Draws Strong Interest at the Turkish Consulate in New York Hosted by the Turkish Consulate General in New York, The Future of Healthcare: Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Next-Generation Medicine brought together students, medical professionals, researchers, and industry leaders for an engaging discussion on the future of healthcare innovation. The event was organized under the leadership of high school students Demir Akar and Kaan Ergan through Turk Ocagi youth branch and Emergent Minds Lab (EML), a youth-led initiative focused on empowering the next generation through education, leadership, and global dialogue. The event was further honored by the attendance of Deputy Consul Mehmet Bayatak of the Turkish Consulate General in New York, as well as Mustafa Erçakıca, Vice Consul of the TRNC Representation Office in New York. Also in attendance were respected community representatives Mrs. Necmiye Kacaroglu of Atatürk’s Heritage Foundation and Ms. Betul Yuruk of Ahbap America.Moderated with the participation of young student hosts, the discussion became especially dynamic as students asked thoughtful questions on artificial intelligence, medical careers, biotechnology, and the future role of data science in patient care. This intergenerational exchange created an inspiring atmosphere where young minds directly engaged with accomplished professionals.The program featured distinguished speakers from leading institutions across medicine, healthcare technology, and pharmaceuticals. Panelists included Dr. Harman Gill of NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine, Eren Alkan of Bunkerhill Health, Sarah Ortolan, MSc, of Hospital for Special Surgery, Isil Yasa of Bristol Myers Squibb, and Dr. Alperen Ozturk of Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center-TAMA.Throughout the panel, speakers shared valuable perspectives on how artificial intelligence is transforming diagnostics, research, personalized medicine, hospital systems, and patient outcomes. Attendees responded with strong interest, reflecting the growing importance of healthcare innovation in today’s world. The program stood as another example of how youth leadership, community partnership, and visionary thinking can create impactful platforms that inspire the leaders of tomorrow.
